Borders On Patrol is a family owned business that was created with the concept that there is an environmentally
conscience way to resolve the problems between Canada Geese and humans.
After reading
"A Dog Year" and "The Dogs of Bedlam Farm" by Jon Katz, Craig was hooked on Border Collies. Prior
to his retirement from the Secret Service he began searching the Internet for job possibilities. He searched "Federal
Protection" to see what might transpire and "Federally Protected Canada Geese" came up a number of times.
He investigated further and found that Border Collies are used to herd geese from parks, ball fields, industrial parks, golf
courses, universities, beaches and even airports.
The connection between Border Collies and Canada Geese developed into a concept
that will help communities control the amount of waste and destruction that the geese do. Most importantly without
ever harming the geese. It is a WIN, WIN situation. People are happy they have their facilities back, there
is no conflict with people being upset about the methods used to control the geese and the geese move on without nesting in
areas that are subject to human contact/conflict.
